I have never taken a ballet class, can I join the Onco-Ballet™ class?

YES! This class is for all levels, including beginners. We give a number of modifications and take the time to explain steps and break things down.

Can I bring a friend or family member with me to Onco-Ballet™ class?

We pride ourselves on creating an inclusive environment for all. So if it makes you more comfortable to have a support person with you, please feel free to bring them. However, please let your guest know that this class is a safe space for those facing cancer and to please be mindful of this.

Is there an age range for this class?

Accepted Answer

We only ask that you are age 18+ and there is no age maximum for this class. We will be offerings classes for youth aged under 18 at another time. All ages are welcome as long as you are an adult and can legally sign a waiver for yourself.

Is there a cost for the class?

Accepted Answer

No :) Part of our mission at the Onco-Ballet Foundation is providing FREE ballet classes to anyone facing cancer. However, if you choose to bring a guest, we do ask that they donate on a sliding scale of what they can afford to pay for the class to help us cover our costs of hosting.

Is there a dress code?

Accepted Answer

No, but we suggest you wear comfortable clothing you can move around and dance in. Example, leggings and a t-shirt, sweats and a tank, etc. Street shoes are not allowed in the studio, but socks, ballet slippers, or bare feet are ok.

Question 6

If I am late, can I still attend?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but please plan to enter quietly and join in where the group is at in the class, as we will start right on time for this class given it is only 1 hour in duration.

Question 7

Will there be snacks or water available?

Accepted Answer

Not for this class. Please plan to bring your own water bottle and we would suggest eating a light snack beforehand or after class.

Question 8

I might need extra modifications due to recent surgery, can I still join?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but please email us beforehand (oncoballet@gmail.com) to let us know and then talk with your instructor before the class begins so they are aware of this and can assist you with modifications, including the use of chairs if necessary to help in stability.
